Welcome to the North Shore Long Island Jewish, Center for Human Reproduction,
New York Donor Egg Program
Our Long Island New York donor egg center has given hope to hundreds of otherwise infertile women. An egg donor's eggs are used when the patient's eggs will no longer fertilize and develop usually due to age, premature menopause, or medical treatments such as cancer chemotherapy.
Donor egg success rates are typically excellent because the eggs of a young, carefully screened egg donor are used. Our Long Island donor egg center typically produces success rates equivalent to the egg donor's age. For example, if the eggs of a 24 year old female are used in a 42 year old recipient, the success rates equal the 24 year old age group and are high. Our Long Island donor egg program has a broad cadre of egg donor's to choose from or the patient may supply her own donor, such as a friend or family member.
The egg donor undergoes ovulation induction with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)to stimulate the development of multiple eggs. The egg donor is monitored at our Long Island donor egg program to insure proper egg development and to avoid potential side effects.
The recipient's cycle is "synched" with the donor's so that her endometrium will thicken to accept the developing embryos. The endometrium must thicken and become more vascular to provide nourishment to the embryos.
Once the egg donor's eggs are retrieved they are combined with the partner's sperm. After fertilization, the embryos are placed in incubators for three to five days days (sometimes longer) until mature. The mature embryos are transferred to the recipients uterus in a pain free procedure usually requiring less than fifteen minutes.
Our donor egg Web site contains details on all of the processes involved in the egg donation procedure. Our fertility Web site covers all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of infertility including assisted reproductive technologies.
We hope you enjoy the information provided by our Web sites and encourage you to contact us with further questions or to schedule an appointment.
